The APM tractor is designed for shunting operations within vehicle depots and towing unpowered rail vehicles. Constructed by retrofitting a proven universal loader chassis with additions such as "guide wheel assemblies" and tow couplers, it delivers a towing capacity of 96 tons and can start and traverse slopes of 2‰ gradients without rolling back when parking brakes are applied (without relying on the towed train’s brakes). Powered by a diesel engine, the tractor operates bidirectionally and features self-contained traction power, enabling low-speed, constant-speed operation for precise tasks.
Capable of pushing or towing trains at 8 km/h at any location along the track, the vehicle excels with its compact structure, small turning radius, low noise emission, and high reliability. The operator-friendly design includes an ergonomic cabin with panoramic visibility, an aesthetically streamlined exterior, and robust traction performance. Equipped with a fully enclosed cabin and heating systems, it ensures operator comfort and functionality even in adverse outdoor conditions such as rain or snow.
