Recently, the highly anticipated Qingdao 2025 Municipal Practical Project - the integrated congestion relief project for underground parking and ground roads at the East Square of Qingdao North Railway Station has fully entered the construction phase. As a key construction area of Qingdao's TOD Project No.1, this project will play a crucial role in enhancing the regional transportation connectivity and road network service level, effectively alleviating the long-standing ground traffic congestion problem at the East Square of Qingdao North Railway Station.

The integrated traffic easing project for underground parking and surface roads at the East Square of Qingdao North Railway Station comprises two parts: the renovation of the existing parking lot into a parking lot for taxis and ride-hailing vehicles, and the construction of surface roads on Zhanqian Road and Anshun Road within the East Square area. According to the current construction progress, it is expected that the surface roads on Zhanqian Road (from Cangtai South Road to the North Railway Station building) and Anshun Road (from the existing Zhenhua Road to Cangtai South Road) within the East Square area will be open to traffic in August this year. By December, the parking lot for taxis and ride-hailing vehicles will be ready for use, providing 550 parking spaces (250 for taxis and 300 for ride-hailing vehicles).

According to the construction needs of the integrated congestion relief project for underground parking and surface roads at the East Square of Qingdao North Railway Station, the underground public parking lot at the East Square will undergo phased closure for construction. Starting from July 8th, the original underground parking lot at the East Square will be temporarily suspended, and a temporary surface parking lot will be put into use simultaneously. The newly renovated parking lot is expected to be ready for use in December.

Currently, the Qingdao TOD No.1 project is advancing at full speed in infrastructure construction, transforming the former Guomian Sixth Factory into a new cultural landmark, and integrating station-front commercial facilities and basic education resources from Shandong University. A cooperation agreement has been signed with the China Seventeenth Metallurgical Group Corporation for investment collaboration, accelerating the construction of an ecosystem featuring an integrated layout of station, industry, and city. As the core area of the district, Qingdao North Station's first-opened East Square underground space is about to reach the completion of its main structure. Upon completion, it will efficiently connect surrounding commercial, business office, and historical and cultural service areas. The comprehensive construction of the East Square underground parking and ground road integration and congestion relief project lays the foundation for rain-proof and wind-proof taxi and ride-hailing transfers at Qingdao North Station's East Square, smoothing out the last mile of transfers.

In the future, Qingdao Metro Group will continue to uphold the concept of "building the subway for the people and the city", accelerate the construction of Qingdao TOD Project No.1, earnestly fulfill the responsibility of a state-owned enterprise, deliver a "safe, reliable, high-quality, convenient, and efficient" answer sheet to the citizens of Qingdao, and inject new momentum into the construction of Qingdao as an international metropolis.
